Caxito – The Attorney General's Office in the province of Bengo received, in 2023, three thousand 865 criminal cases of various natures.
Of this number, 1,513 cases had 2,007 defendants arrested, while in another 2,352 cases, 2,868 citizens who were also defendants are free, according to the deputy attorney general of the Republic in Bengo, Carla Patrícia Correia.
In 2023, the Attorney General's Office in Bengo sent 257 cases with 314 defendants to the Public Prosecutor's Office, at the Dande District Court, and 206 to the guarantee judge for questioning.
The deputy prosecutor considered the year laborious and highlighted the holding of the legality week, the legal awareness days, the methodological meeting and the visits to the municipalities as the main achievements of 2023.
He pointed out that the Attorney General's Office successfully coordinated and conducted the public presentation of the National Strategy for the Prevention and Repression of Corruption (ENAPREC), a reference instrument for the prevention, arrest and repression of corruption and related crime, which aims to strengthen citizens' trust in public institutions.
In Bengo, the services of the Attorney General's Office are represented in the municipalities of Dande, Ambriz, Nambuangongo, Dembos, Bula Atumba and Pango Aluquém. CJ/IF/DOJ
