Ndalatando – Seven people were accused by the Attorney General's Office in Cuanza-Norte, as part of the case that culminated in the annulment of the admission tests for the public education tender, held last November, in this province.
At issue are irregularities detected in entrance exams, such as acts of corruption, adulteration of results and classifications and the awarding of fraudulent grades in more than 200 processes, out of the 353 determined for different levels of education.
The information was provided to ANGOP, on Thursday, in Ndalatando, by the deputy attorney general of the Main Republic in Cuanza-Norte, Maria Joaquina Matias Pedro.
The judge revealed that the defendants are accused of the crimes of embezzlement, criminal association and improper receipt of benefits.
Although it did not provide names, ANGOP learned from a reliable source that among those accused is the former director of the Provincial Education Office, Manuel Miguel Lourenço.
He clarified that within the scope of the public complaint received, the PGR took steps that culminated in the opening of criminal case No. 67/SIC/2024 at the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC).
This is the fourth case of an economic and financial nature this year that is being processed in the anti-corruption room of the local PGR with number 1663/2024/CNT.
“The case is ongoing and the indictment notifications have already been distributed, and some defendants have already been heard for preparatory instruction of the case”, she stressed.
She said that the institution is closely monitoring the case, given the repercussion it had on society, and which led the Minister of Education, Luísa Grilo, to order the cancellation of the admission tests. DS/SC/DOJ
