Menongue – The results of the fight against corruption underway in the country since 2017 will be publicly presented within days, the Attorney General Hélder Pitta Gróz announced this Wednesday in Menongue, south-east Cuando Cubango province.
Hélder Pitta Gróz was speaking to the press during the opening ceremony of the 3rd Extended Meeting of the Southern Judicial Region of Attorney General’s Office (PGR), covering the provinces of Cuando Cubango, Huíla, Namibe and Cunene.
The event takes place under the motto “Procedural progress in the preparatory instruction.
The holder of the PGR assured that there are several cases, many still in preparatory instruction, just waiting for their conclusion in terms of processes.
He admitted that the covid-19 pandemic delayed the smooth running of the process, still the PGR continues to work on response to what the law requires.
The Attorney General's Office said that the process involving the businesswoman and former manager of Sonangol, Isabel dos Santos, is in the final stage, for her to be taken to court.
As for Isabel dos Santos’ whereabouts, the Prosecutor said this matter is not Angola’s concern, but it is up to Interpol to deal with this issue.
As for the case involving former vice President of Republic, Manuel Vicente, the Prosecutor said that the PGR only recently started working on it, as during the five years there was a legal impediment to the effect, which will take longer for its conclusion.
Pitta Gróz acknowledged that, in the last five years, great attention has been given to environmental issues, poaching, the slaughter of fauna and flora, through the expansion of action taken in relation to the referred areas, as well as a stronger action in relation to human rights.
