Uíge – At least 16, 315 liters of gasoline bound for Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were seized in the last seven days in northern Uige province, police have said.
The seizure occurred in the municipalities of Maquela do Zombo, Quimbele and Milunga (Uíge province).
Of the total, 5,300 liters of gasoline were seized in the municipality of Quimble, 5,840 in Milunga and 5,175 in Maquela do Zombo, said the spokesperson for the Provincial Command of the National Police in Uíge, chief superintendent, Freitas Zamas.
In the three municipalities, the fuel was transported in trucks and three-wheel motorcycles, stored in 20-litre drums, the source stated.
He clarified that several citizens were arrested in connection with the practice, including national and Congolese citizens. NM/JAR/CF/NIC
