Dundo - Five hundred and thirty-one foreigners from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), whose intention was to settle in diamond mining areas in Lunda-Norte, were prevented from entering Angola illegally by the Angolan Border Guard Police (PGF).
The information was provided on Thursday, in Dundo, by the spokesman for the Provincial Command of the National Police in Lunda-Norte, Domingos Muanafumo, stressing that the immigrants tried to use 'fiote' paths, but as a result of the PGF inspection work, they were prevented from entering and forced to return to the country of origin.
He said that the facts occurred at the border posts of Chitato, Caungula, Cuango, Cambulo and Lóvua
Angola and DRC share a border (land and river) of 770 kilometers.
On the other hand, he said that the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC), as part of the 'Okuliandja' operation, seized 13 diamond stones of various carats, 1,230 liters of fuel (gasoline and diesel), in the municipalities of Cuango, Chitato, Caungula, Cambulo and Lóvua.
He made it known that the DRC was the destination of the smuggled fuel, which after its seizure it was handed over to the Customs Delegation, as a faithful depositary.
On the other hand, the diamonds seized for illegal possession and trafficking were handed over to the Listing Commission of 'Operation Transfer', also as a trustee. JVL/HD/DOJ
