Luanda - The Standing Committee of Senior Officials of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) assesses, from this Monday until Saturday, Marchy 9th, in Luanda, several dossiers, with emphasis on the resources mobilization strategy and the report on the financial situation of the regional organization for approval by the Council of Ministers.

The meeting, which brings together senior officials from the 16 member countries of the Community, precedes the meeting of the SADC Council of Ministers, which takes place on Sunday and Monday, in the Angolan capital, explains a press release, sent to ANGOP.

Among the documents to be assessed by the Standing Committee, for submission to the Council of Ministers, the report on the degree of general compliance with the decisions of the last Council and the Summit, as well as the motto of the 43rd Summit of Heads of State and of Government.

The 43rd Summit of the regional organization's political leaders took place last August in Luanda, under the motto "Human and Financial Capital: The main factors for sustainable industrialization in the SADC region".

The Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (RISDP) 2020-2030 Budgetary Implementation Plan, the entry into operation the SADC Humanitarian and Emergency Operations Center (SHOC), disaster situations in the region, closure of the activities of the Regional Tourism Organization of Southern Africa (RETOSA) will also be considered, besides the food and nutritional situation.

Upon taking over the SADC's leadership, President João Lourenço asked for hard work from Member States to fulfill the actions contained in the RISDP, which establishes an agenda for sustainable development in the social, economic, political, governance and security.

The work of the SADC Council of Ministers will be guided by Téte António, as acting president of the body responsible for overseeing the functioning and development of SADC, as well as ensuring the implementation of policies and decisions.

The Council comprises ministers, as a rule, responsible for Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Economic Planning, Finance or Trade, from the 16 SADC Member States, and meets twice a year, namely in March and August.
