Luanda - The vice-president of the European Parliament, Marc Angel, praised on Tuesday, in Luanda, the role of Angola in Africa and within the framework of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) as a facilitator of peace and stability of the continent.
Speaking to the press, after a meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly, the socialist MEP from Luxembourg acknowledged that Angola has stood out as a facilitator of peace and stability in Africa.
Marc Angel, who was accompanied by the co-president of the OACPS-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly, Carlos Zorrinho, thanked the Angolan authorities for hosting the meeting of the Joint Constitutive Assemblies of Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific with the EU within the scope of the new Samoa Agreement, considering a historical moment.
In the meeting with the leader of the Angolan Parliament, he said that they also reviewed issues related to the training and qualification of youth and the sustainable development agreement.
On the other hand, Portuguese socialist Euro-deputy Carlos Zorrinho pointed out that the Luanda meeting has as its motto 'the New Dawn in the Relationship between the OACPS-EU, based on the interests of the people'.
He informed that in the coming days the European Union (EU) and the Angolan Government will move forward with the signing of a set of agreements worth 90 million euros, to support education, food security and civil society.
He added that the cooperation process with Angola will also include EU participation in the recovery of the Lobito Corridor.
'All of this is a way of putting into practice a partnership between equals because this is how we understand that we must build peace', said the MEP.
He recognized that Angola has an increasingly important role in the SADC, African and geopolitical framework.
Regarding the Samoa Agreement, within the scope of the new OACPS-EU partnership, he clarified that it is multilateral and involves more than 70 African, Caribbean and Pacific countries and 27 EU countries (four continents and two billion people) based on the multilateralism and trust in values and the ability to solve citizens' problems.

Also this Tuesday, Carolina Cerqueira spoke with the president of the Parliamentary Assembly of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), Ana Rita Sithole, who thanked the Angolan authorities for hosting the OEACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly.
She praised the Angolan organization for the conditions made available to the approximately 400 parliamentarians who are working at the Palace of the National Assembly.
The co-President of the Africa, Caribbean and Pacific-European Union Joint Parliamentary Assembly was pleased with the progress of the work and the election of a deputy from Zambia, belonging to the sub-region of Southern Africa, in which Angola is located, to the Bureau Africa-EU.
After the three Regional Assemblies (Africa-EU, Caribbean-EU and Pacific-EU) were constituted, in light of the Samoa Agreement, Ana Sithole revealed that the highlight of the magnificent event takes place on Wednesday (21), with the Solemn Opening Session of the 1st Session of the OEACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly.
