Luanda - The Angola parliament participates from the 15th to the 19th of April, in Livingstone, Republic of Zambia, in the 14th Ordinary Session of the Plenary Assembly of the Parliamentary Forum of the International Conference of the Great Lakes Region (PF-ICGLR).
The Angolan parliamentary delegation, according to a press release distributed today, Wednesday, is headed by the speaker of the National Monitoring Group for Regional Parliamentary Organizations, Pedro Sebastião, and also includes deputies Sérgio Vaz, Suzana de Melo, Celso Capingala and Djamila de Almeida.
In compliance with the agenda, Angolan parliamentarians are participating, since Monday, in the preparatory meetings of committees under the themes of Peace and Security, Democracy and Good Governance, as well as in the 28th Ordinary Session of the Executive Committee.
The official opening of the 14th session takes place on Thursday (18), with the presentation and debate on “The Role of Parliament in Adapting to Climate Change in the Great Lakes Region”.
The political, security and humanitarian situation, as well as information on the ongoing parliamentary fact-finding mission in the DRC conflict will, among other topics, be discussed and assessed at this 14th Session of the PF-ICGLR.
The Parliamentary Forum of the International Conference of the Great Lakes Region (FP-ICGLR) is an inter-parliamentary organization that brings together the national parliaments of the ICGLR's 12 member states, namely Angola, Burundi, Central African Republic (CAR), Congo, Kenya, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Rwanda, South Sudan, Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia.
The organization was created on December 4, 2008, in Kigali, Republic of Rwanda, after the signing of the Inter-Parliamentary Agreement that establishes it.
