Benguela - The Mozambique Parliament Speaker, Esperança Laurinda Francisco Bias, on Monday in Benguela Province, said her country intends to start parliamentary missions exchanges between Angolan and Mozambican MPs.
The Mozambique Parliament Speaker made the statement on the sidelines of a meeting with Benguela jurisdiction MPs, adding that there are some specificities in the Angolan Parliament, such as the figure of provincial co-ordinator of parliamentary issues, who are also members of parliament, which is not the case in Mozambique.
The politician explained that in Mozambique the physical organisation of MPs is done through committees or parliamentary groups, which is why she expressed interest in sending Mozambican MPs on missions to Angola to add new experiences.
Asked about the reasons for her visit to Benguela Province, the politician highlighted the region's economic potential, adding that as MPs attention should be paid to economic activities.
Esperança Bias said that the Mozambican MPs intend to understand how Angolans oversee economic activities.
Accompanied by Angolan Speaker Carolina Cerqueira, the delegation was received by the governor of Benguela Province, Luís Nunes, with whom they had a courtesy meeting.
The Angolan National Assembly Speaker announced for later this year an exchange of experiences between delegations of the respective parliaments that will enable the development of new skills, in terms of cooperation.
According to Carolina Cerqueira, MPs must be connected to technology and the media in order to be closer to the electorate in all areas.
