Luanda - The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, meets with his US counterpart Joe Biden at the Presidential Palace, as part of an official visit that has the consolidation of the strategic partnership at the centre of the agenda.
The two countries are working to overcome a number of pressing and critical challenges, such as improving infrastructure in Africa and increasing economic opportunities and sustainable development on the continent.
The expansion of technologies and scientific cooperation, the strengthening of peace and security and food security are other priorities that have been defined.
In an interview with The New York Times a few days ago, the Angolan Head of State emphasized that Joe Biden's visit would pave the way for American private investment in Angola.
At the meeting, the two Presidents will have the opportunity to assess the effectiveness of existing agreements and plan new areas of investment, above all involving the private sector.
This is the first official visit by a US statesman to Angola and aims to strengthen relations between the two countries, addressing issues such as security, health and economic development, including partnerships such as the Lobito Corridor.

With this state mission, it is hoped that the two countries find platforms for understanding adjusted to the reality of their respective peoples, capable of deepening mutual advantages and diversifying existing cooperation.
The path for American private investment in Angola
‘Over the decades it has been seen that American investment is more focused on the oil sector and we hope that with this visit there will be greater diversification of American private investment in Angola,’ Lourenço said.
Angola and the US have been strategic partners since 1993, with political-diplomatic and co-operation relations that grew significantly 30 years ago and led to the signing of various legal instruments in the social, commercial and business fields.DC/ART/DAN/AMP
