Ondjiva - Political leaders of the southern Cunene province on Friday praised the investment the Angolan government has made for the construction, modernizing and equipping hospitals throughout most parts of the country.
Speaking to ANGOP on the inauguration of the largest health facility in Cunene, the speakers admitted that due to its size and modernization, the conditions are in place for humanized medical care and medication of quality.
According to UNITA's secretary in Cunene, Torga Pangeiko, the implementation of a hemodialysis, psychiatry and complex surgery services represents a gain for the local population, calling for the commitment of the technicians who will ensure the functioning of the institution to justify the state's investments.
"With the entrance into operation of this unit, which has special services, the situation of Cunene patients living in Namibia will be resolved," he said.
The secretary of the Social Renewal Party (PRS), Miguel Nadapewovano, on his turn considered the emergence of this properly equipped facility an asset, as it will limit the evacuation of patients to Namibia and other parts of the country.
"Without fear of making mistakes, we recognize that the province has just gained a great hospital, as a result of the government’s investment, so we hope for humanized care," he stressed.
The secretary of the FNLA opposition party, Júlio Garcia, underscored the importance of the health unit since the region had no public or private hospitals to attend complicated cases, leading families to spend a lot of money to have access to specialized treatment.
