Luanda – Angola’s Vice President Esperança da Costa and the President of the Pan-African Women's Organisation (PAWO) Eunice Lipinge Thursday discussed the ongoing struggle for women's participation in decision-making in various fields, described as one of the institution's priorities.
During the audience, in which Eunice Lipinge was accompanied by the former Secretary-General of the Angolan Women's Organisation (OMA), Luzia Inglés Van-Dúnem "Inga", the parties discussed issues such as the violation of Human Rights.
The meeting also analysed ways to establish relationships and cooperation between the Pan-African Women's Organisation and its counterparts around the world.
Comprising 55 countries on the continent, the Pan-African Women's Organisation has worked with the African Union, thus influencing the implementation of the African women's statute and the Maputo Protocol, which deals with the empowerment of women.
Among other actions, the organisation proposes to support African women victims of political conflicts, ensure the defence and protection of girls and women victims of terrorism and armed conflicts, the good customs and values of the rich African culture, which it venerates and respects the woman, symbol of families, peace, tolerance and perseverance.
