Luanda - Angola continues to be a "fundamental and unavoidable priority" of the Portuguese Government, said on Monday, the new Portuguese minister of Foreign Affairs, Paulo Rangel.
According to a press release, Paulo Rangel made this statement during a telephone conversation with his Angolan counterpart, Téte António, stressing that "Portugal remains committed to strengthening historical, brotherly and fruitful ties with Angola".
It explains that Paulo Rangel made an incursion into the liberation struggle in Africa, having valued it for contributing significantly to the independence of the colonies and the emancipation of the Portuguese people.
The conversation between the two ministers, he clarified, thus opens the way for the continuity of closer mutually advantageous and lasting cooperation.
It should be remembered that the dialogue between the two heads of diplomacy was preceded by an audience that minister Téte António granted, in Luanda, to the Portuguese ambassador in Angola, Francisco Alegre Duarte.
At the meeting, the two pwersonalities spoke, among other topics, about the levels of cooperation between the two countries, as well as the need to hold the Joint Commission.
Angola and Portugal cooperate in various sectors, mainly in the economic and financial domains.
