Luanda – The new ambassador of Angola to the United Arab Emirates, Júlio Gomes Maiato, on Wednesday presented his credentials, in Abu Dhabi, to the President of the UAE, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
On the occasion, the Angolan diplomat highlighted the high level of co-operation between the two states, having underscored the willingness to reinforce the ties of friendship and co-operation in various areas, but with emphasis on economic and entrepreneurial issues.
A press note from the embassy, which has reached ANGOP, states that the two countries intend to boost commercial exchanges and the number of investors, as well as increase the co-operation agreements.
ANGOP has learnt that in the same ceremony, sixteen other diplomats were also accredited.
The note states that the embassy in the UAE also represents Angola in Kuwait, Kingdom of Bahrein, Afghanistan and Pakistan, as well as in the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) headquarted in Abu Dhabi.
The diplomatic relations between Angola and the UAE were formally established on 11 January 1977.
Angola and the UAE are members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and have co-operation relations in areas like oil, gas, and agriculture, among others. ADR/AL/jmc
