Luanda - Angola and Nicaragua signed on Wednesday, in Managua, capital of Nicaragua, three agreements that aim to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood between the two countries.
According to a press release to which ANGOP had access Thursday, these are the agreements on mutual exemption of visas for nationals, holders of diplomatic, service and official passports, the memorandum of understanding on political consultations, as well as the agreement on economic, scientific, technical and cultural collaboration.
The documents were signed by the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Esmeralda Mendonça, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nicaragua, Denis Moncada.
On the occasion, the Angolan official highlighted the importance of the three legal documents for the two nations, as they will consolidate the interests of both countries to continue to build a mutually beneficial relationship.
“Angola and Nicaragua have many social and cultural similarities, we understand that we must explore them to strengthen relations”, highlighted the Secretary of State.
Denis Moncada on his turn expressed his satisfaction, adding that with the signing of the three agreements a “great step” was taken between two brotherly peoples and governments, in favor of strengthening bilateral cooperation.
“The signing of these instruments aims to consolidate fraternal relations and guarantee coordination on issues of mutual interest, relations based on the principles of sovereign equality, mutual respect, cooperation, investments and solidarity”, emphasized the head of Nicaraguan diplomacy.
Denis Moncada said the parties will adopt a coordination mechanism and regular consultations, facilitating the movement of national citizens in both countries.
The idea, he stressed, also involves establishing the general bases to promote technical collaboration in the economic, scientific, technical and cultural domains, with the aim of contributing to both peoples’ development.
These are the first bilateral instruments signed by Angola and Nicaragua. The two countries formally established diplomatic relations in 1979.
