Luena – The governor of the province of Moxico, Ernesto Muangala, reiterated, on Thursday, in Luena, the importance of the new Political-Administrative Division (DPA) as a way of bringing State services closer to the populations.
When speaking at an informative meeting with local civil society about the implementation process of this project, he said that after a period of discussion and collection of contributions from consultation councils, the document is in the approval phase by the National Assembly (AN).
Despite this phase, the official informed that the AN may re-evaluate the proposal to designate Cassai – Zambeze for the new province of Moxico, in the event that an organization or organized groups express this intention, sending a document with new name proposals, so substantiated.
At the aforementioned meeting, with several members of civil society, traditional and ecclesiastical authorities, businesspeople and defense and security forces, he said that the idea is to maintain or change the current proposal for the name Cassai-Zambezi, the name of two rivers that flow the region, without affecting or benefiting the interests of minority groups.
'We have a united, unique and indivisible country', recalled the ruler.
In turn, Samba Muacazinha 'Regedor Tchiesso', praised the name Cassai-Zambeze, as it symbolizes two “important” rivers, which contribute to the region's economy, through fishing activities.
For pastor Dinis Cassanga, the DPA will have immediate benefits in the lives of the populations, providing more jobs for young people and economic and social growth in these regions.
If the new Political-Administrative Division (DPA) is approved, the country will initially have 325 municipalities and 20 provinces.
The two new provinces will result from the division of Moxico and Cuando-Cubango into two each, passing into Moxico, Cassai-Zambeze, Cuando and Cubango.
The province of Moxico, with 223 thousand 23 square kilometers, is the largest in the country in terms of extension, followed by Cuando-Cubango with 199 thousand 49 km². LTY/TC/YD/DOJ
