Cazenga - The Vice President of the MPLA, Luísa Damião, highlighted on Wednesday in Luanda the importance of the continuous work of the women's association of the Catholic Church, Promaica, for the education of women, so that they continue to be a cradle of values.
The political leader was speaking during a ceremony that marked the activities alluding to the 'African Women's Day', in the Santa Madalena Parish, municipality of Cazenga.
At the occasion she added that there is an urgent need to reflect on their role on the continent and in Angolan society, because they are the guardians of peace, promoter of development and educator of excellence.
In her intervention, she highlighted the fact that they have got great achievements, since “they are already represented in places that were once dreamed of in Angola, in the Executive, Legislative and Judicial bodies”.
Luísa Damião also said that women must also be the guardians of cultural and moral values so that we can have an increasingly educated society towards development, hence the fact that there are many female associations that make a real contribution to society.
For the MPLA politician, this path must be followed by everyone.
With a true commitment to women's meritocracy, they have demonstrated that when given an opportunity they perform their role very well, the politician said.
In turn, the priest of the Santa Madalena Parish, Josė Marcelino, highlighted the fact that “they are celebrating this day in a different way, bringing together a large number of women from the municipality of Viana to raise awareness about the need and its value”.
In his opinion, this fringe of society must work so that Africa has many more women in decision-making positions for the well-being of humanity.
During the meeting, a lecture was held under the theme "African woman cradle of values", which was attended by hundreds of women from 32 parishes in the province of Luanda. PLA/ACS/SC/CF/DOJ
