Luena - The participants of the II MPLA regional meeting this Friday in Luena, Moxico province, encouraged the Government to strengthen programmes to fight poverty, ensuring greater support to the agro-livestock sector in order to improve the populations living conditions.
According to the final communiqué of the meeting, led by the MPLA vice-president, Luísa Damião, the participants also recommended continued investment in social and road infrastructures, with particular emphasis on the Integrated Programme for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM).
With a view to the consolidation of peace, reconciliation and development of the country, MPLA appealed to its militants to the "democratic fight" for the exercise of political power, expressing its readiness to face and defeat political adversaries.
The participants welcomed the results obtained by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, in his recent tour of the Republics of Turkey, Guinea and Ghana, to strengthen economic diplomacy.
The 2nd MPLA regional meeting aimed at addressing the social and economic situation of the country's eastern provinces (Moxico, Lunda Norte and Lunda Sul), as well as reviewing the strategy of intervention in society, with a view to the next general elections scheduled for 2022.
