Luanda - The Politburo of the People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) on Tuesday, in Luanda Province, reaffirmed its permanent commitment to exalting the life and work of the first President of Angola, António Agostinho Neto.
This position is expressed in a statement by the governing MPLA party on the occasion of September 17th, National Hero’s Day, which also marks the 102nd anniversary of Agostinho Neto´s birthday.
The document states that "with reverence, we pay tribute to this distinguished son of Angola, preserving the extraordinary values and qualities that raised him to the notable level he occupies in the context of nations".
The MPLA Politburo also appeals to all Angolans to celebrate the date with renewed hope, aming for the changes that are needed in the country's current social and economic framework and aspiring to achieve the noble ideals that guided the party’s political struggle, based on the legacy that “the most important thing is to solve the problems of the people.”
"With this objective, the MPLA Political Bureau defends the strengthening of the Nation's productive capacity, linked to the economic diversification designs, as a way of guaranteeing the sustainable construction of an economy that promotes the development that Angola so much desires and for which it works with tireless dedication", reads the statement.
It adds that, under the motto "With Neto's ideals, we build a strong and dynamic economy", the ruling pary’s Politburo reaffirms the evergreen value and the unique place reserved for António Agostinho Neto in the process of building and declaring Angola as a Sovereign Nation, free, independent and master of its destiny, in tune with the highest aspirations of the Angolan people.
The MPLA believes that maintaining a deep, permanent, open and inclusive dialogue is a fundamental condition for the country to achieve, as quickly as possible, the objectives set by the Government and its leader, João Lourenço.
On the other hand, the MPLA also urges on the document the combination of efforts around the best solutions for the future of Angola.
