Caxito – The vice-president of the ruling MPLA, Luísa Damião, delivered on Thursday more than a ton of various products for victims of the rains in Dande municipality, Bengo province.
The donation included cornmeal, rice, wheat flour, sugar, pasta, soap, bleach, balloons, zinc covers, plastic and aluminum mugs and bathtubs.
The delivery of the goods took place in Mabubas, Dande municipality, where most of the families whose homes were destroyed or flooded are resettled in several neighborhoods of Caxito.
Luísa Damião the offer served to extend the party's solidarity to families in need of support and convey the message of hope and comfort, adding that her party will continue to mobilize and advocate in favor of the victims.
Maria Antónia Nelumba,Bengo governor, on her turn said the donation of the goods will alleviate families' needs.
The governor requested the MPLA's advocacy with central bodies regarding the urgent need to start the second phase of the Caxito integrated infrastructure project which, in her opinion, could minimize the flooding in the region.
