Luanda – MPLA and the Portuguese Communist Party (PCP) on Saturday, reiterated the ties of friendship and solidarity between the two parties and peoples, as well as the need to strengthen their alliance against social inequalities.

This was expressed during a meeting between the MPLA delegation participating in the Avante Festival, in Lisbon, and the Secretary General of the Portuguese Communist Party (PCP), Paulo Raimundo.

MPLA’s delegation was led by the Secretary of the Political Bureau for International Relations, Manuel Augusto.

The parties also expressed their desire to be aligned in their positions at the level of the organizations of which each country is a member.

Migration, the international economic crisis and its consequences, the diversification of the economy and the ways to improve the living conditions of their respective peoples were among the discussed topics.

At the end, the parties considered their relations to be on a good level, hoping for a world without war and with social justice.

At another meeting, there was a meeting between the MPLA and PCP delegations, the latter led by José Capucho, member of the Political Committee, accompanied by Paula Santos, member of the Standing Committee and Parliamentary Leader of the PCP.

During the Avante Festival, the MPLA delegation participated in several events, including its presence at the International Solidarity session, where Secretary Manuel Augusto spoke on the theme “Africa and its Peoples”.

The MPLA delegation also had the opportunity to present Angola´s social and political and economic reality, through direct contact and video screenings.

During the solidarity session, Manuel Augusto talked about the topic “Africa and its peoples”, during which he thanked the PCP for the invitation to participate in the 48th edition of the Avante Festival, and to be able to speak to an audience that has solidarity as its watchword in its life and political activity.

He recognized that the theme chosen for the International Solidarity session, “Africa and its Peoples”, was well chosen, taking into account the geography of each people and the need for globalization, which the citizens of the world have become, which “should mean that everyone is free to live wherever they want”.

Manuel Augusto said that if Africans are left without external interference, they are capable of solving their problems, and the peace process in Angola is an example of this.

“No external mediation was necessary for the Angolans to understand each other”, recalled the official.

Speaking about Africa's natural resources, he reaffirmed that the African continent can and has been contributing to the world's evolution and reaching today's levels.

The various political parties from the Portuguese-speaking African countries (PALOP) countries participated in this session.

At the usual Avante Festival, organized by the Portuguese Communist Party, in Quinta de Atalaia, Portugal, the MPLA is present with a delegation that includes other party officials, namely Manuel Victor, director of the MPLA Central Committee for the Information and João Francisco, director of the MPLA Central Committee Propaganda and Administration and Finance departments, as well as Fernando Lello and Samuel Francisco.

The 48th edition of the Avante Festival, taking place from the 6th to the 9th of the current month, is a political, cultural and gastronomic event that annually brings together members of political parties with the same ideological matrix. ART/MRA/DOJ
