Luanda – The MPLA's Secretary General, Paulo Pombolo, held a meeting, on Thursday (17), in Luanda, with the Secretary for Political Affairs and International Affairs of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party of Tanzania, Rabia Hamid, with a view to strengthening existing cooperation.
In statements to the press, Rabia Hamid said that the meeting aimed, among other issues, to strengthen relation among both political parties and to rejuvenate the ties established during the visit of the Tanzanian President and CCM's first Secretary, Samia Suluhu Hassan.
She explained that, during the visit of the Tanzanian President to Angola, several areas of cooperation were identified, as well as the reaffirmation of the reopening of the Tanzanian embassy, visa exemption and economic exemption.
According to the official, once relations between the two countries and parties are strengthened, automatically “we will have many advantages for both and we will grow our Gross Domestic Product (GDP)”, she stressed.
She noted that relations between the two groups, forged as a liberation movement, should boost and strengthen relations, as well as allow for greater unity.
She said she took "many" experiences from Angola, with particular emphasis on the heated recession, the way of life of its citizens, as well as local economic opportunities.
Also this morning, at the MPLA headquarters, the Secretary for International Affairs of the Angola ruling party, Manuel Augusto, granted an audience with the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in charge of African Affairs of Algeria, Selma Bakhta Mansouri.
For Selma Bakhta Mansouri, the meeting served to discuss the current situation regarding historical relations between the two States that share and opt for the same values of Pan-Africanism.
The politician congratulated President João Lourenço for his leadership of the African Union (AU) and expressed Algeria's willingness to support Angola's presidency, mainly after its election as a member of the organization's Peace and Security Council.
