Luanda - The Political Bureau (BP) of the Central Committee of MPLA analysed Monday (12) the future composition of the internal bodies of the National Assembly (Parliament), in view of the results of the general elections held on 24 August.
The communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, chaired by the party leader João Lourenço, has made no reference to the names.
The MPLA won the general elections on 24 August, having elected 124 of the 220 MPs to the National Assembly.
The BP thanked the trust placed in the general elections and congratulated the Angolans for their "civic and patriotic participation" in the election, especially the militants, friends and sympathizers for their "wise and enlightened vote" in the party.
In its communiqué, MPLA urged everybody to remain calm, respect the Constitution and the Law. It also vowed to work for the development of Angola (...) convinced that the institutions of the State will continue to serve the people, ensure the peace and social tranquility.
In this year's election, the MPLA garnered 3. 2 million votes which allowed it to secure 124 seats in Parliamentary. While UNITA which obtained 2. 7 million votes secured 90 MPs.
The third placed Benedito Daniel's PRS got 71,351 votes (1.14%) and two seats, recovering the third position in the Parliament lost to CASA-CE in the 2012 general elections.
FNLA, led by Nimi a Nsimbi, and the debuting Humanist Party of Angola (PHA), by Florbela Catarina Malaquias, all with two seats each.
