Luanda – The ruling MPLA party’s Central Committee approved, on Monday, the proposal for adjustments to the organisation's statutes, which will be sent to the VIII Extraordinary Congress, scheduled for December 16th and 17th, this year.
According to the final Communiqué issued by the MPLA's VII Ordinary Session, led by the President of the party, João Lourenço, the meeting also approved the Draft Thesis "MPLA- from Independence to our days: The Challenges of the Future".
The event, held at the Belas Conference Center, in Luanda, approved and assessed the proposals of the Congress documents, namely its internal regulations, the meeting’s internal bodies and the presidency of the thematic committees.
The Central Committee (CC) also approved the party's annual project of activities and events for 2025, with the opinion of the Discipline, Ethics and Audit Commission.
Participants praised President João Lourenço's efforts in promoting family farming, which they considered "an important element for food security and where the role of women has been crucial".
In this context, the meeting welcomed the Angolan Women's Organization (OMA) for the recent distinction, in South Africa, of the Kudima Program, which aims to encourage family farming and give visibility to women's work in rural areas.
In the Final Communiqué, read by the secretary of the Political Bureau for Information and Propaganda, Esteves Hilário, the Central Committee reaffirmed its full support for President João Lourenço "in the efforts he has undertaken to resolve citizens' main headache, within the framework of the PDN (National Development Plan)".
The meeting congratulated JMPLA (MPLA's youth wing) on its 62nd aniversary and on the election of the new National Committee, led by Justino Capapinha, during its IX Congress, which took place in Luanda.
In the international chapter, the activists praised the intense diplomatic activity carried out by President João Lourenço, especially aimed at promoting peace and the prevalence of dialogue as the privileged route for solving conflicts.
On the other hand, the CC urged party members, supporters and friends to actively participate in the celebrations of December 10th, the date of the founding of the MPLA.
The MPLA CC is made up of 693 members, of which 101 are from its Politiburo.
