Luanda - The Vice President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, travels Friday to Lubango city, southern Huíla Province, to conduct the opening ceremony of the IX Meeting of Environment Ministers of the Community of the Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP).
The event being held under the motto “Environmental Emergencies in the Context of Multiple Crises” has as a highlight the presentation of the proposal entitled “Climate Heritage of Humanity”, concert process for the possible legal recognition at the United Nations (UN).
The event will also have the theme “Stable Climate”, as a global common good, and will feature interventions from Member States on Environmental Emergency, Challenges and Opportunities”, among others.
On the sidelines of the CPLP IX Meeting of Environment Ministers, Esperança da Costa will visit social enterprises of that southern province of the country with the objective of finding out how it works.
Still on Friday, the Vice President of the Republic will go to the municipality of Chibia, which is 40 kilometers away from the provincial headquarters and addition to hold a working meeting with local authorities, she will visit the High School No. 454, with 12 classrooms and four laboratories (Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Computer Science), among other support structures, as well as the Works of the future municipal administration of Chibia.
Saturday's agenda of the Vice President of the Republic covers a visit to the Faculty of Medicine, which marks 14 years of existence.
Esperança da Costa, who is being accompanied by the secretary of State for Higher Education, Eugénio da Silva, and the Dean of the Faculty, Ana Gerardo, will hold a brief courtesy meeting with the Board of Directors of that higher education institution.
On the same day, accompanied by the secretary of State for Hospital Matters, Leonardo Europeu Inocêncio, the Vice President is also expected to visit the Central Hospital of Huila, before returning to Luanda on Saturday afternoon.
As part of the privileged monitoring of the environment sector, Esperança da Costa has reaffirmed Angola´s position on the need for a common agenda, which focuses on the permanent discussion of issues that can make the CPLP member states more resilient and strengthen cooperation between states for global challenges to achieve sustainability.
The Vice President of the Republic has also held meetings with civil society associations and Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) working towards environmental sustainability.
