Luanda - The minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, met on Wednesday with the Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for the Great Lakes Region, Huang Xia.
The meeting took place in one of the hotels in Luanda in the presence of ambassador Jorge Cardoso, director for Africa, Middle East and Regional Organizations at the Foreign Foreign Affairs Ministry, and Zahira Virani, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Angola.
Diplomat Huang Xia is in Luanda since Tuesday (17), as part of a tour carried out by some countries in the region, to consult the various political actors in the context of the preparation of his report to be presented at the UN Security Council, scheduled for October 8th.
The current situation of peace, security and conflict dynamics in Africa, with particular emphasis on the Tripartite Ministerial Meetings for Peace and Security in the DRC, under Angolan mediation, was also on the table for an in-depth analysis during the meeting.
For the UN special envoy, Angola, as President of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region, led by the Head of State, João Lourenço, Champion of Peace and Reconciliation in Africa, has the duty to complement, ensure and inform on developments peace, security and conflict dynamics on the continent.
The meeting between minister Téte António and Huang Xia also served as a way for the parties to focus on preparing for another meeting of the signatory countries of the Framework Agreement for Peace, Security and Cooperation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the region.
The instrument aims to create essential conditions for the DRC and the region to achieve peace, security and stability, in favor of sustainable development.
