Luanda - The minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano, represented the Head of State, João Lourenço, at the Korea-Africa Summit 2024, which took place from 4 to 5 May in Seoul, the capital of the Republic of Korea.
According to a press release ANGOP has had access to, the summit served to strengthen ties between the continent and the South Korean country by adopting a strategy of shared, solidary and sustainable growth.
Angola was formally invited to take part in the event, the main aim of which was to deepen relations of friendship and cooperation focused on economic diplomacy, with the aim of ensuring the development of both parties.
The first multilateral conference between Koreans and Africans was attended by representatives from 48 African countries and four regional organisations on the continent, including the African Union (AU) and the African Development Bank, as well as the host president and 25 other African heads of state.
The event was co-chaired by the President of South Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol, and the President of Mauritania, Mohamed AI-Ghazouani, who currently leads the AU.
In his speech, José Massano emphasised the good friendly relations that exist between Angola and the Republic of Korea, which were strengthened when the first General Agreement on Economic, Technical and Scientific Cooperation was signed 30 years ago.

He spoke about Angola's economic potential, which he said is full of natural resources, as well as the measures that have been implemented by the Angolan government with a view to diversifying the Angolan economy.
