Luanda - The minister of State and head of the President's Military Office, Francisco Furtado, highlighted the importance of the inclusion of new general officers at different levels of the institution.
Speaking on Monday at the swearing-in ceremony, the minister urged the newly sworn in general officers of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) to fulfil with zeal the missions assigned to them.
He said a general officer must have a proper conduct. “(…)He has to have a standard behaviour, based on ethics, decorum and cordiality".
Francisco Furtado also urged for greater vigilance and coordination in fighting actions that undermine the integrity of the Angolan State.
The minister of State demanded a proactive, and not reactive, attitude against those actions, underlining that the aim is to strengthen the investigation and public security bodies, so that they can act in favour of national order and sovereignty.
The ceremony served to swear-in the recently appointed military officers designated by the Angolan Head of State, namely , secretaries, consultants, directors and commanders of the subordinated units that make up the management and leadership of the President’s Military Affairs Office.
According to Francisco Furtado, this is a bet with the focus on the gradual rejuvenation of this structure, taking advantage of the skills and competences of young people emerging to start the new cycle that aims at generational transition.
"The generals class is one of great responsibility (...) and it does not condone less worthy acts, whose repercussions can have an impact not only on the class, but on society itself", the minister stressed.
He then added that the promotion to the class of general represents the highest expression of confidence and gives the military the authority to exercise complex functions.
