Soyo - The Minister of State and Head of the Military Office of the President of the Republic, Francisco Pereira Furtado, on Thursday, denounced the existence of Angolan citizens in some provinces who facilitate the fraudulent obtaining of citizenship Identity Cards by foreigners.
According to Francisco Furtado, the scheme involves traditional authorities and officials from the Civil and Criminal Identification Services of the provinces of Zaire, Cabinda, Lunda-Norte and Cuando Cubango.
In view of this scenario, the minister said that there was a marked disparity in population density data in these regions, during the General Census of Population and Housing (2024 Census).
Francisco Furtado said, by the way, that a person was recently arrested in the province of Lunda-Sul in illegal possession of 99 citizenship Identity Cards.
These documents, according to the Minister of State, were to be taken to neighboring countries, to facilitate the illegal entry of immigrants into the national territory.
He admitted that there are indications that the network of evildoers has ramifications in the country's capital, Luanda.
He called on the defense and security forces, deployed at border posts, to redouble vigilance to contain the wave of illegal immigration that plagues the country.
He announced that the Angolan Government is enhancing national borders with modern electronic equipment, to allow greater control and inspection of the border perimeter with neighboring countries.
The Minister of State and Head of the Military House of the President of the Republic, was speaking at the meeting to take stock of the activities carried out by the Multisectoral Commission.
The meeting was attended by the provincial governor of Zaire, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, and took place in Soyo town at the Command of the Northern Naval Region of the Angolan Navy (MGA). PMV/JL/DOJ
