Amboim - Minister of State and Head of Civil Affairs Office to the President of Republic Adão de Almeida has urged Angolans to preserve peace, national unity, moral values and civic interests for the well-being of the populations.
The President’s aide launched the appeal on Sunday in Amboim, coastal Cuanza Sul province, while addressing an opening ceremony of the fifth national scout camp in the region.
Adão de Almeida named the peace and national stability as being among the key achievements of the Angolan people.
In his speech, he told the youth to focus on academic and technical-professional training to contribute to the economic and social development of the country.
“This camp is an example of national unity. Young people from all over the country are here, sharing the ideals of Scouting. Stability represents an important challenge for our present, as the past has taught us the value of peace in the worst way, so we all have an obligation to preserve it”, he stressed.
The official highlighted the importance of the scout movement in building a more cohesive society.
“I identify with the values of the scout movement. Loving the country is the first duty of a citizen. Love Angola and do everything in your power for her, always ready to serve”, he stressed.
On the other hand, Adão de Almeida condemned the negative influence of social media on citizens' lives.
Attended the meeting provincial governor of Cuanza Sul Job Capapinha, the Secretary of State for Youth Francisco Boaventura Chitapa.
Also religious entities, traditional authorities were among other guests.
The event, taking place Under the motto “Planet, our duty and mission”, also gathers more than 10,000 scouts and lasts seven days. MCN/NIC
