Luanda – The minister of National Defence and Homeland Veterans João Ernesto dos Santos Saturday congratulated the Army, one of the main branches of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), on their 31st anniversary celebrated on 17 December.
In a press release that ANGOP had access, the minister João Ernesto dos Santos conveyed the warm and fraternal congratulations for the date, stating that it is fair to recognise and praise the bravery and heroism of brave fighters.
The minister acknowledged the commitment of the Army in the most challenging moments of the country's history.
According to him, the staff never failed to comply with their duty to defend and preserve Angolan territory and national independence, peace and national reconciliation as well as ensure the normal functioning of democratic institutions".
He said that in view of the present and future challenges, the staff are called upon to step up their commitment to the ongoing process of rebuilding, resizing and re-equipment.
In conclusion, the minister urged the personnel to continue improve their levels of discipline, readiness for combat, operations and patriotic education.
