Luanda - The Minister of National Defense, ex-combatants and veterans, João Ernesto dos Santos, praised on Tuesday in Luanda the performance of the Army, which has always fulfilled its responsibilities in the context of the security and defense of the country.
In a message of congratulations on the 33rd anniversary of this military institution, celebrated on December 17, the Minister said that the commemoration was a good reason to reflect on the sum of the years of its existence, as well as the impact of its actions.
According to the document, the government remains committed to mobilizing the necessary resources to improve the working conditions of army personnel, especially in the recently created Northeast, Southeast and Middle Kwanza military regions.
The Minister urged the Armed Forces to embrace the process of restructuring, downsizing and re-equipping currently underway, without losing sight of ongoing training.
João Ernesto dos Santos also called for the military to surpass the levels achieved in the training processes, since only then will the troops be able to fulfill their responsibilities in the defense of the national territory and the geopolitical and geostrategic regions of which Angola is an integral part.
The Army, the National Air Force and the Navy are the three branches of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), created by the merger of soldiers from the now defunct FAPLA (Government) and FALA (UNITA), under the Bicesse Peace Accords (Portugal), signed on May 31, 1991. VIC/DAN/AMP
