Luanda - Minister of State for Social Affairs Carolina Cerqueira on Saturday highlighted the quality of calmness the former President José Eduardo dos Santos demonstrated in dealing with the country's issues.
Speaking to the press during José Eduardo dos Santos' funeral ceremony held at Republic Square, Cerqueira said that the former President also stood out as a man who loved culture and sports.
Carolina Cerqueira said that José Eduardo dos Santos was a man with strong religious convictions, having stood out for his human sense.
In turn, Canon Apolónio Graciano pointed out the fact that José Eduardo stood out as a true man of peace.
The church authority took the opportunity to appeal to the people to maintain calm.
José Eduardo dos Santos died in Barcelona, in Spain, on July 8.
The funeral ceremony will take place on Sunday morning (28).
Twenty-one foreign individuals, including heads of State and Government from some African countries and Portugal are expected to attend the funeral.
In Luanda are José Maria Pereira Neves President of Cabo Verde, Carlos Vila Nova president of São Tome and Principe, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa President of Portugal, Filipe Nyusi of Mozambique.
Other figures include Danis Sassou Nguesso of the Republic of Congo, Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe, Umaro Sissoco Embalo of Guinea-Bissau and Jorge Lopes Bom Jesus Prime Minister of Sao Tome and Principe.
