Ondjiva – A total of 1,233 projects from the Integrated Plan for Intervention in the Municipalities (PIIM) portfolio were completed by the end of July this year across the country, out of the 2,325 registered.
According to the final communiqué of the meeting of the Local Governance Council, which took place Saturday, in the province of Cunene, under the guidance of the head of State, João Lourenço, the projects include the completion of 44 health units.
Of this number, 35 Health Centers were completed with an average of 30 beds each, representing a supply of 1,050 beds, 6 General Hospitals, 1 provincial, 4 municipal and 1 specialized, as well as 3 maternal and Child Health Care centers, which contributed to the increase in medical and medication assistance for children and pregnant women.
In the field of Education, 155 schools were completed, of which 93 are new primary schools, which allowed the creation of 648 classrooms and the inclusion of 23, 328 students in the education system, and 34 secondary education, representing 346 classrooms with an absorption capacity of around 12, 456 students.
In terms of roads, the document informs that 15 projects were completed, which resulted in improved conditions for the movement of people and goods.
These are 6 asphalting projects, corresponding to 13.5 km of roads, 5 light oil tar earthworks, representing around 104 km of roads.
It also refers to the completion of 4 bridge rehabilitation and construction projects, one over the Cacuito river, in the commune of Cambândua, in the province of Bié, one on the Dondo-Kilessa section, in the province of Cuanza-Norte, a metal bridge over the Caunje river, in the section of Sede de Cacuca-Longonjo, in Huambo and another on the Viri river, in Cuanza-Sul.
The report also states that 229 projects are paralyzed for various reasons, including the lack of technical capacity of the contracted entity, non-compliance on the part of contractors and inspectors, poor estimation of project costs, poor financial execution and others.
Therefore, the Local Governance Council recommended the adoption of appropriate measures for each case, updating the project scope, discontinuing projects and reinforcing project financing, without neglecting civil or criminal liability when necessary.
