Luanda - The Angolan Navy (MGA) seized this Saturday the ship “Solo Creed” from Benin bound for Togo, for violating the security perimeter of oil platforms.
Speaking to the press, the Angolan Navy commander Divaldo Fonseca said that the vessel's occupants claimed that they intended to resupply with water and supplies, but without the appropriate authorization.
He revealed that the vessel, 39 meters long and 11 meters wide, did not raise any flags and circulated around the perimeters of oil blocks 17 and 18.
There were 9 crew members on board the ship, including 4 Nigerians, 2 Panamanians, 2 Hondurans and a Venezuelan, he said.
According to the official, the vessel will be handed over to the Multisectoral Surveillance and Inspection Operational Technical Group for the necessary procedures.
Divaldo Fonseca reiterated the commitment of the Angolan Navy to continue developing actions to guarantee the inviolability of national waters.
