Luanda – The opposition PDP-ANA party will sign a Memorandum of Understanding in the coming days to put an end to the internal conflict within this political organisation, said its leader, Simão Makasu.
The crisis in PDP-ANA started last March, the time Simão Makasu was stripped of the leadership for allegedly embezzling more than 100 million kwanzas.
The president is accused by a group of former party members of usurping the party’s fund for personal means, estimated at 118 million kwanzas between September 2017 and March 2021.
Founded in the 1990´s by the deceased professor Mfulupinga Lando Victor, PDP-ANA despite not being directly represented in the National Assembly is part of the CASA-CE coalition that elected 15 MPs in the latest elections.
The party receives from the coalition 1.5 million kwanzas plus 8.5 million kwanzas from the State General Budget (OGE), making a total of 10 million during three months.
The decision to unseat Simão Makazu was taken in the first plenary meeting of the Central Committee of PDP-ANA, held on 12 March which created a management commission led by Matinga Mbala.
Under the proposal by the president of CASA-CE coalition, Manuel Fernandes, the current board should lead the party up to the opening of the ordinary Congress, scheduled for October.
The Memorandum will be signed by Simão Makasu, president of PDP-ANA and Matinga Mbala representative of the contestants and former general secretary of the party.
It foresees the creation of a preparatory commission made up of members of both groups to prepare and hold the ordinary congress set for October 2021.
