Luanda – At least 2.5 million voters have registered with the Single Public Service Desks (BUAP) in five months across the country.
The data were released by the minister of Territory Administration (MAT), Marcy Lopes, while speaking to Angola’s National Radio station.
He said that these numbers are still below expectations, for that reason the BUAP will also work on Saturdays, from 9 am to 4 pm.
He appealed to citizens who changed residence and new voters to update their data, ahead of the general elections set for August this year.
To vote in the next elections, the minister explained, only the Identity Card or Voter Card will be needed and the latter is only being issued in areas of the country where there are no Ministry of Justice services.
He asked citizens to trust the institutions, stressing that the process is being carried out with the greatest transparency and fairness.
For clarification, Marcy Lopes said that users can access the website www.meuresto.gov.ao or call 136, at no cost.
The process of updating the unofficial electoral register began on 23 September last.
The process of unofficial electoral registration for citizens over 18 years of age is underway.
