Luanda - The newly appointed member of the Council of the Republic, Mara Baptista Quiosa, reaffirmed Monday in Luanda her commitment to work for the well-being of the communities and the development of the country.
Speaking to the press after being sworn in as a member of that body, Quiosa explained that "the goal is to continue working to listen to the problems in the communities and to advise the President of the Republic on the best ways to overcome the main problems" in those places.
"Our mission is to advise the President of the Republic, especially in situations related to improving the social conditions of the population," she stressed.
Mara Baptista Quiosa, recently elected vice-president of the MPLA, has served as provincial governor of Bengo, Cabinda and Cuanza-Sul, among others.
The Council of the Republic of Angola is a collegial advisory body that advises the President of the Republic on matters of national interest.
According to the Constitution, the Council is chaired by the President of the Republic and includes various personalities by virtue of their functions and others appointed by the Head of State himself. AFL/SC/TED/AMP
