Luanda - The Central Committee (CC) of the MPLA elected on Tuesday, in Luanda, Mara Regina da Silva Baptista Domingos Quiosa to the position of vice-president of the party, replacing Luísa Damião.
Mara Quiosa, former governor of Cuanza-Sul province, was elected with 585 votes in favor, corresponding to 95.7 percent of the total valid votes.
The election took place during the extraordinary meeting of the MPLA Central Committee, chaired by the party's President, João Lourenço, after the closing of the VIII Extraordinary Congress, which made specific adjustments to the party's statutes and balance of the 50 years of national independence.
For coordinator and deputy coordinator of the Discipline, Ethics and Audit Commission of the Central Committee, Pedro Netro and Mariana de Lourdes Lisboa Felipe were elected, with 583 votes in favor, corresponding to 98.5% of the total valid votes.
For the Political Bureau (BP), the single list was elected, with a composition of 103 members (of the previous 101), with 566 votes in favor, corresponding to 95.4% of the total valid votes.

Mara Quiosa, former provincial governor of Cuanza Sul, has held the same position in the provinces of Bengo and Cabinda.
Daughter of Artur João Baptista and Maria de Jesus Santiago Fernandes da Silva Baptista, she was born on June 13, 1980.
Holder of a Master's Degree in Governance and Public Management from the Faculty of Law of the Agostinho Neto University, since 2002, she graduated in Sociology from the Agostinho Neto University.
