Luanda – The spokesperson for the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSMJ), Correia Bartolomeu, informed on Thursday, that at least 1,084 cases of sexual abuse against minors are being processed in Courts of Common Jurisdiction across the country.
Correia Bartolomeu provided the information on the TV Show "A Grande Questão" on Angola Public Television.
Data from the CSMJ shows that the province of Luanda registers the highest number of cases.
From January until now, 402 cases of sexual violence against minors were processed in the District Courts of the province of Luanda, 216 in the Districts of Luanda and Viana, and 186 in the District of Belas.
Benguela with 61 cases, Cuando-Cubango with 52 and Lunda-Norte with 46 cases are in the top four of the provinces with the highest number of processed cases.
During the 4th Extraordinary Session of its Plenary, the Superior Council of the Judiciary decided to send teams from the Judicial Inspection to reinforce the supervision of cases of sexual violence against minors in the Courts of Common Jurisdiction. FMA/ART/CF/DOJ
