Luena - At least 1,932 non-detonated explosive devices of various calibres were removed in the last 11 months by the Mine Advisory Group (MAG), in the Vila-Luso district, in the outskirts of Luena, Moxico province.
The technical manager of field operations of MAG, Massoji Ipanga told ANGOP on Friday that during the same period his team had removed 22 anti-tank mines, nine anti-personnel mines, 369 explosive devices and 992 ammunitions of different calibres.
Massoji Ipanga also said that the work, which began in the first half of 2020, and was being carried out in an area of 238,588 square metres, 195,000 of which had already been cleared of mines, was being undertaken by 28 technicians, including 20 sappers, two team leaders and an equal number of assistants, paramedics and drivers.
