Huambo – At least 1,083 demobilised soldiers who belonged to the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) joined the ranks of the National Police this week.
The ex-members of FAA attended a police techniques course, held at the Soldiers' Training Center "Heroes de Kangamba", in the central Huambo province.
The 45-day basic police course aimed to improve the performance of the function of law enforcement officers.
Angola’s minister of Interior, Eugénio Laborinho, chaired a closing ceremony of the 19th basic training course in police techniques, whose finalists will be distributed throughout the Commands of the country’s 18 provinces.
Addressing a ceremony, Eugénio Laborinho appealed to the new members to put into operation the theoretical and practical skills learned during the training, to better fulfill the mission.
Introducing the new Commander General
The minister introduced the new general commander of the National Police, commissioner-general Arnaldo Manuel Carlos, recently appointed by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.
The event was marked by the promotion of 109 National Police officers in Huambo province.
