Dundo - Five hundred and twenty-two citizens of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) were detained during a micro-operation at the border posts of Cuango, Caungula, Cambulo, Chitato and Lóvua, in Lunda-Norte, for attempting to enter in Angolan territory illegally.
The information was provided on Wednesday by the technician of the Institutional Communication and Press Office of the provincial command of the National Police, Alexandre Pereira, stressing that the immigrants, accompanied by 71 children, intended to settle in the diamond exploration areas.
According to the official, after administrative issues, the immigrants were repatriated to their country of origin.
The operation underway since the beginning of this year aims to combat illegal immigration, trafficking of organs and human beings, diamonds and smuggling of various products, especially fuel. JVL/HD/DOJ
