Dundo – Five hundred and five citizens from the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were detained during a micro-operation at the Lunda-Norte border posts, for attempting to illegally enter the national territory.
The information was provided this Monday, in Dundo, by the technician from the Institutional Communication and Press Office of the provincial command of the National Police, Alexandre Pereira, highlighting that the immigrants were detained at the border posts of Itanda, Muaquece, Mwacanhica, Cambamba, Mwenhambulo, Nachir, Luphemba, Txihongela, Naumba, Cambacola, Xaundo and Tumba.
According to the official, after administrative issues, the illegal immigrants, which includes 45 children, were sent back to DRC.
The immigrants intended to reach diamond exploration areas, with the aim of carrying out mining.
In the operation, he continued, 9,275 liters of smuggled fuel heading the DRC were also seized.
The ongoing operation since the current year aims to combat illegal immigration, trafficking in organs and human beings, diamonds and smuggling of sevelra products, with emphasis on fuel.
