Dundo – A total of 112 stones of diamond of various carats were seized on Wednesday, in the municipalities of Cuango and Lucapa, north-eastern Luanda-Norte Province, by local defense and security bodies, for illegal possession and trafficking.
The information was provided Thursday, in Dundo, by the technician from the Institutional Communication and Press Office of the Provincial Command of the National Police in this province, Alexandre Pereira, highlighting that the arrest resulted from a micro-operation aimed at combating diamond mining and illegal immigration.
Without revealing the number of citizens detained in the operation, he said that 5,300 US US dollars were also seized.
He added that the diamonds and the seized values will be handed over to the Operation Transparency Listing Committee.
In the same operation, he said, 629 citizens of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were arrested for illegally entering and staying in the national territory.
He made it known that after the administrative acts, the immigrants were repatriated to their country of origin, through the border posts of Cuango, Chitato, Caungula, Lóvua and Cambulo.
