Luena - A project of management and destruction of firearms and mines, which aims at preventing the risk of unnecessary explosions and fighting criminality, was launched today, Wednesday, in Luena city, Moxico province, by MAG (Mine Consultancy Group).
The new MAG service, has among other objectives, to mitigate the proliferation of weapons outside their normal service for the illicit market by criminals.
The project has employed 16 women who will work in the destruction of ordnance, after undergoing a compulsory two-week training course of theory and practical classes.
The coordinator of MAG's Arms and Ammunition Management department, Adriano Augusto, said that the institution will work in partnership with the provincial technical sub-committee for the disarmament of the civil population to collect weapons in the possession of citizens.
In her turn, trainee Cecília Luciana expressed her satisfaction for getting her first job.
Juelma Solange feels happy, not only for getting a job, but for being part of a project that will help the Government to fight juvenile delinquency through disarmament.
