Luanda – Angola will host on the 30th of this month the 2nd Session of the Ministerial meeting between delegations from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda, under Angolan mediation, within the scope of the Luanda process.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX), the parties agreed to hold the aforementioned meeting, following consultations carried out by Angola and in accordance with the conclusions of the first meeting, held in Luanda, on March 21, 2024.
The meeting is the result of the decision taken during separate conversations between President João Lourenço, champion of the African Union and Reconciliation in Africa and appointed mediator, with his counterparts Félix-Atoine Tshisekedi and Paul Kagame, in February and March 2024, respectively.
Luanda Roadmap and the agreements
The Luanda Roadmap and agreements is a document approved, in the Angolan capital, on July 6, 2022, during the tripartite summit of the international conference on the great lakes region (ICGLR), between Angola, Rwanda and DRC, which points out the paths to the pacification of the east of the Congo.
The document was signed by the heads of state, Paul Kagame, Félix Tshisekedi and João Lourenço.
