Malanje - MPLA presidential candidate João Lourenço Tuesday announced the construction of a new satellite city in the northern Malanje province, with 2,500 houses.
Addressing a mass rally held in Malanje, as part of ongoing election campaign countrywide, the MPLA leader said that the new city will have as much as ten times the number of houses of Carreira de Tiro satellite city, currently under construction in the region.
He encouraged the other groups of society (private and cooperative sector) to continue building more homes for the benefit of the citizens.
João Lourenço also announced the completion of the integrated infrastructures in Malange province.
Another source of financing the completion of the referred projects, as well as Malange/Caluma road, in December of this year, has been found, said the MPLA leader, who also announced the completion of Caluma/Luio road, scheduled for April next year.
He recalled the completion of other projects during his term, such as the roads connecting Lucala/Cacuso, Caculama/Talamungongo, Mussolo/Dumba Cabango, Tala Mungongo/Cabundi Catembo, as well as the road that connect to the Agri-Food Institute and Malange city.
New hospital
In his speech, João Lourenço also announced the construction of Malanje General Hospital, with capacity for 200 beds.
The minister of Health Silvia Lutukuta recently laid the first stone for the construction of the referred hospital unit.
Admission of health professionals
MPLA leader also announced the admission of another 265 health staff this year in Malanje province.
He recalled that during his term, the government had admitted, in three years, 1,322 health professionals in that region, including doctors, nurses and technicians.
PIIM
Malange province is also benefiting from several infrastructure built, under the Integrated Municipalities Intervention Plan (PIIM).
They include primary and secondary schools, hospital units, health posts and centres.
Drinking water
Lourenço also announced the completion this month of the project to boost water distribution capacity in the municipality of Cangandala, to benefit more than 10,000 inhabitants.
Angola holds its fifth elections on 24 August, since 1992.
