Luanda – Draft Law on Volunteering will lay the foundations for the promotion of a culture of solidarity, social cohesion and reinforcement of citizenship values, according to the assumption contained in its opinion report passed Tuesday by specialty commissions of the National Assembly (AN).
The Draft Law on Volunteering will be implemented through cross-cutting public policies for the different public and private entities, in particular individual citizens.
The discussion on law proposal is timely, as volunteering has to be encouraged in the country as a factor of “construction” when it comes to the social cohesion at the level communities, said the MP of the opposition UNITA party, Alcides Sakala.
He told the press that the Law encourages the culture of solidarity, and considered it crucial for a society suffering from social values such as justice”.
In turn, Manuel Fernandes of CASA-CE Parliamentary group, said that the shortage of the law in Angolan legal system meant that there was no legal basis for the exercise of volunteering.
The Bill will allow sectors such as Civil Protection and Firefighters, the Armed Forces (FAA) and health services to use this mechanism whenever it requires.
The proposal will be discussed on the 14th of this month in plenary session, for its general approval.
