Luanda - Access to the ombudsperson has become easier with the launch, on Tuesday, of the 'Virtual Hearings' project, in partnership with the United Nations Development Program, which had the support of the United States of America.
During the launch, the Ombudswoman, Florbela Araújo, considered the project a milestone in the fight to defend the rights, freedoms and guarantees of citizens, highlighting that it is part of the expansion of the Ombuds' services to all provinces of the country.
She said that the project will result in the reinforcement of administrative modernization, the technological interconnection of the institution, the reduction of bureaucracy and the waiting time of citizens in relation to processes.
'This project is a clear demonstration of how collaboration between national and international institutions can generate practical and effective solutions to the challenges that humanity faces,' she stressed.
In her speech, the acting chief of mission of the United States of America Embassy in Angola, Mary Emma Arnold, stressed that one of the central pillars of the bilateral relationship with Angola is support for good governance initiatives to create a more democratic and inclusive society.
'The Project is a continuation of our broader efforts at good governance, which was made possible through our Regional Fund for Democracy in Africa,' she said.
For the resident representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Angola, Denise António, the initiative aims to ensure that all Angolan citizens have equal access to these services that serve as a mechanism for managing complaints in a timely manner.
Still on the project, she revealed that it will create greater proximity with citizens, foster inclusion and enforce the principle of 'leaving no one behind'.
On the occasion, the Deputy Ombudsman, Aguinaldo Cristóvão, and the Head of Governance of UNDP, Ikena Carreira, reviewed the project objectives, operational goals, support and training, the target provinces and the expected results.
Another aspect of the project focuses on improving the efficiency and accessibility of public services through digital transformation. FMA/ART/DOJ
